Donation Guidelines:

Before taking the time to bring your donation to the store, please send detailed photos and descriptions of the items you wish to donate to donations@reusedepot.org, as our ability to accept donations varies depending on stock, warehouse space, and item quality and condition. Please note that our donation team reserves the right to inspect all donations and reject items that do not fit our donation criteria.

As a general rule, all items must be clean, intact, free of damage, and in working order. Please review the donation policy below for our guidelines regarding specific categories of donations. If you have something that is not covered that you believe we may want, please contact us!

Appliances

All appliances must be in working condition and have all parts and pieces. Generally, we only accept appliances that are less than 10 years old, but may make an exception for appliances that are antique, vintage, or high end.

Do you have an appliance other than a refrigerator or microwave that is over 10 years old? We may be able to accept it if it can be recycled. Please contact us for more details.

Cabinets

Cabinets must be clean, intact, assembled, and free of rot or structural damage. We do not accept cabinets without doors or cabinet doors without cabinets. We also do not accept built-in media cabinets or low quality or dated cabinets.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about generic plastic laminate and particle board cabinets, as well as unusual cabinet configurations that are not part of a set. Please contact us if your donation falls into one of these categories.

Doors

Doors must not have any rot, structural damage, or significant alterations. Doors with glass must have glass that is undamaged. We will accept door hardware but do not accept door jambs due to space constraints. Exterior sliding doors must be assembled and complete. Garage doors must have all parts and hardware. We do not accept single-pane aluminum sliding doors.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about hollow-core doors, closet doors, doors taller than 84” or shorter than 75”, commercial doors, and aluminum screen and storm doors. Please contact us if your donation falls into one of these categories.

Flooring

Flooring must be free of nails, mold, rot, glue, mortar, grout, and structural damage. Tongue and groove must be intact, if applicable, and flooring must be within 1/16” of original thickness. We do not accept used laminate or engineered wood flooring or new laminate or engineered wood flooring in quantities less than 100 square feet.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about flooring quantities less than 100 square feet or with lengths under 4 feet, laminate or engineered wood flooring, and vinyl or marmoleum remnant flooring. Furniture

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about furniture. Please contact us if your donation falls into this category. All furniture must be of solid wood construction, structurally sound, and assembled. We do not accept upholstered furniture, bed frames, or entertainment centers. We will only accept chairs and stools, armoires, and desks on a limited basis.

Hardware

Generally, we are able to accept most hardware. However, to be on the safe side, please contact us first before bringing your donation to the warehouse.

Heating & Cooling

Must have all parts and be in working condition, and all lines must be properly evacuated and capped. Forced air furnaces should be 90% efficiency. Hot water heaters must be less than 9 years old. We do not accept air-conditioning units or heat pumps.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about 80% efficiency forced air furnaces, gas fireplace inserts and freestanding fireplaces, window and free-standing air conditioners, and oil burning furnaces. Lighting & Fans

Lighting fixtures must be free of damage, complete, assembled, and in working condition. We do not accept fluorescent or can lighting or styles that require excessive assembly.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about ceiling fan donations. Please contact us if your donation falls into this category.

Lumber & Trim

Lumber and trim must be free of nails, mold, rot dirt, and any damage or wood imperfections. We do not accept lengths shorter than 4 feet. With the exception of desirable designs or species, trim must be unpainted. We do not accept plywood, OSB, or MDF.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about engineered lumber products and common trim profiles. Please contact us if your donation falls into one of these categories.

Masonry/ Stone/ Tile

Masonry must be free of mortar, glue, and structural damage. Unless it’s vintage, tile must be new and in complete boxes. Stone countertops must be at least 24 inches in either direction. Pavers, brick, and stone must be palletized.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about boxes of generic tile or stone countertops with chips or broken edges. Please contact us if your donation falls into this category.

Sinks/ Bathtubs/ Toilets

Sinks, bathtubs, and toilets must be clean and free of dents, chips, cracks, or excessive scratches. Freestanding sinks must have associated pedestal, legs, or mounting brackets. Toilets must be complete and assembled, and include tank, top, lid, and all functioning interior hardware. Toilets must be low-flow, though we may make an exception for unique, high-end, or vintage toilets.

We will not accept one-piece marble/sink counter combos, concrete sinks, sinks used to dispose of paint or chemicals, lower-end plastic sinks, disassembled toilets, and individual toilet bowls or tanks.

Windows

Windows must have undamaged glass and frames, and any hardware must be intact and functional. We do not accept thermopane windows with fogging or moisture between the panes, thermopane glazing with no frame, or single pane aluminum windows.

Due to space constraints and limited demand, we reserve the right to be very selective about windows larger than 6 feet in any direction, non-operating picture-style windows, new double pane aluminum windows, older wood thermopane windows, and vintage steel frame windows. Other Acceptable Items

We also accept railings, stair treads and risers, spindles, mirrors, mantels, architectural items, and vintage tools.

Unacceptable Items

We do not accept home décor, blinds and other window treatments, outdated items, musical instruments, electronics, paint and chemicals, exercise equipment, grout, sand, concrete, and new tools.

As the Reuse Depot, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation, we can give you a tax-deductible donation receipt for donations that we are able to accept. Our receipt may be used for donations valued up to $5000.
